Emma Mulholland wins the 2015 BT Emerging Designer Award
It was announced on Wednesday night that Australian designer Emma Mulholland won the 2015 BT Emerging Designer Award at the BT Runway for Success event. Following in the footsteps of past winners Micheal Lo Sordo and Christopher Esber, Mulholland will receive a $10,000 cash grant. In addition she will also get financial planning services by BT for a year, two return flights to Los Angeles, Toni & Guy hairstyling services for a fashion event and two mentoring sessions with industry leaders. The panel of judges included Edwina McCann, Glynis Traill-Nash and Nicky Zimmermann.
Kendall Jenner is the new face of Calvin Klein Jeans
Calvin Klein has announced that social-media beauty Kendall Jenner is the new face of their Jeans Denim Series. The campaign was shot by Alasdair McLellan and styled by Melanie Ward and also features male model Simon Nessman. Set to debut at Opening Ceremony, the line is a limited edition range of athletic pieces that will be priced from US$58-$348. Jenner told Vogue Australia, “Being a Calvin Klein model is something that I’ve always dreamed and it’s incredible to follow such major models like Kate Moss, Christy Turlington and Lara Stone”. Rare interview with Celine’s Phoebe Philo and Marco Gobbetti for WSJ
The Wall Street Journal interviewed Celine’s chief executive officer Marco Gobbetti and creative director Phoebe Philo, giving us a rare glimpse into the world of the luxury brand. Important tidbits included that the duo have helped the brand’s revenue increase fourfold since 2008, when they started, and there is no sign of e-commerce happening. “We think it is important to touch the clothes – much of what is special is lost on e-commerce. We want to control what we do.” explains Gobbetti.
