One of the things that I love about fashion is that even when the runways are quiet there is always something happening such as the ad campaigns. Just in time for Christmas, brands have been releasing their Spring 2014 ad campaigns via social media before they hit the magazines.
While there will be more coming our way here are the ones that I love so far…
Riccardo Tisci’s Spring 2014 collection for Givenchy, that merged the cultures of Japan and Africa together, was widely praised. Suzy Menkes from The New York Times stated that it was an “exceptional show” and Hamish Bowles of Vogue described it as “a new and subtler but no less powerful way to approach the idea of the…Givenchy woman.”
The latest image from the ad campaign is no less incredible with model Eboni Riley and neo-soul singer Erykah Badu featured and photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. Fashion Gone Rogue says that images to be released soon will also feature Asia Chow, Maria Borges and Dominik Bauer.
I have may or may not have squealed a little bit when I saw Olivier Rousteing post images of Balmain’s spring 2014 campaigns on Instagram featuring cool girl Rihanna. Unashamedly I am one of those people that constantly reblog images of Rihanna on Tumblr- her style is daring but not to the point of desperation and she can pull off an outfit like no other. I even overheard the fashion editor of a magazine, where I did work experience at, point out these insanely high gold heels and state that, “only Rihanna could wear shoes like those…no one else should even dare.”

I always love seeing who will be the latest It-British girl/guy to front the house’s campaign. Cara Delevingne, Emma Watson and Sienna Miller have been lensed for past campaigns and even Romeo Beckham (son to one of the coolest British couples there are) has been featured. So, who got the chance this time to rock a trench coat? Jamie Campbell Bower is featured along with Malaika Firth (who is also a Prada girl) and Leo Dobson. Lady Jean Campbell, daughter of former Vogue UK editor Isabella Cawdor, is also seen looking undeniably cool.
Photographed by Mario Testino here are the latest Burberry stars;
“I saw it. I wanted it. Threw a fit. Then I got it.” This is exactly how I would describe my feelings towards Kenzo’s now infamous Tiger Sweater (the one in green of course), except the “then I got it” didn’t end up happening. Needless to say, Kenzo have become one of the brands on my ‘collections to watch for every season’ list. Their Spring 2014 collection was an Aussie surfer girl’s wardrobe dream come true. According to Style.com, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon name-checked sea motifs, surf culture and LA’s underground music scene as inspirations for the collection.
I couldn’t take my eyes away from their latest image of the Spring 2014 campaign featuring Devon Aoki sitting atop a fish carried by Paul Boche. So. freaking. cool.
No doubt, more campaigns will start trickling their way to instagram or fashiongonerogue.com (where I get my images from).
